Before buying a BASETBL desk chair, check two things separately: whether the chair fits the space and whether its dimensions suit the way you plan to use it. A label such as “wide”, “executive” or “big and tall” does not provide every measurement needed to make that decision.
1. Measure the opening beneath the desk
Record the height from the floor to the lowest obstruction beneath the desk, including any drawer, apron or cable tray. Measure the clear width between legs or cabinets. Use the narrowest usable opening rather than the full width of the desktop.
2. Check chair height and armrest clearance
Look for the seat-height range and armrest height for the exact model. If you want to slide the chair under the desk, compare the armrest height at the intended chair setting with the available clearance. Do not assume that an adjustable seat also means adjustable armrests. If a needed measurement is absent, ask support to confirm it.
3. Separate seat width from overall chair width
Seat width describes one part of the chair. Overall width may include the armrests or base, which can extend farther out. Also check the usable seat depth and backrest dimensions where those measurements are supplied.
4. Leave room behind and around the chair
Measure from the desk to the wall or furniture behind it. Account for the space needed to pull the chair out and turn, along with any movement permitted by the model’s mechanism. A product’s static dimensions may not describe its full movement envelope. Check the manual and ask for clarification if the room is tight.
